'Because Why' Bow-Front Floor Cabinet

Quarter-sawn cherry, French polish
16" deep x 24" wide x 45" high

The design process started as a telephone doodle that I felt compelled to repeat and repeat, which evolved into this floor cabinet. A great deal of care has been put into selecting each piece of wood, which came from the same log, harvested in western Massachusetts and air-dried for about 10 years. The mélange of perfectly quartered and rift-sawn wood gives it a silky appearance. Each part has been carefully hand-rubbed before assembly.

"Liz's Table"
84" wide, 18" deep, 29" high.
Curly Maple, Walnut, 23-Karat gold
The finish is French polish. The grain of the walnut inlays is filled with gold.

  "Hawk feather table"
Maple, Ebony, Glass.
38" wide, 22" deep, 18" high.

I had this piece of Maple with live edges against the wall of my studio for more than a year, waiting for it to "speak to me" One day it finally did, I made the table very quickly, without drawings. The Hawk feather on top of the lower glass seem to float.

"Hall Table"
Cherry, French polish
18" deep x 60" wide x 33" high

For contrast in this hall table, which is finished with a French polish, I decided to play with the vertical grain of the quarter-sawn cherry, opposed to the cathedral grain of the flat-sawn, for a more subtle effect.
